I started preapring the cockpit and exaust nozzle. For the moment the fit seems OK. However, the plastic is a bit to soft to my tatse and the fuselage came with a scratch. And of course the pitot tube at the nose of the aircraft came bent ...

I fitted the air intakes yesterday. Fit is OKish. The real problem with this kit is the emplacement of the link with the spres, wich is often placed on details ...

Note that there is an error on the painting instructions : the clear part on the right air intake SOULD be painted, as seen in actual pictures (and even on the box art)

Following with interest.

I've done some testing for my color choice for the fuselage (ICM range). I might go for a mix of the two grey blue ( 1032 and 1075) with a tiny bit of grey (1034).

The central pilon and external fuel tank are provided in the kit, but are not mentioned in the instruction sheet (despite being represented in the box art). The pilon is part 32, and the ET is an assembly of parts 80, 85, 94, and 95)

Following 👍. The base kit is a good one, but with some flaws. I had problems filling the gaps between the fuselage halves without losing detail (the old Heller tooling had a better parts layout), same with the upper and lower wings.

@DerMattes for the upper fuselage seam I sanded down the cockpit "backplate" and used thin cement iteratively to close the gaps. Seems to have worked well. For the two wing halves I should have sanded the parts more to have a smaller step. I filled the remaining seam with CA glue.
In the end I didn't use they much putty , but I had to be patient

Almost decalling time now 🤞🏻

Almost ! I hope I did a decent masking job, but there will be some touch up to do for sure. Also need to paint the probe and the black nose.

Made most of the touch-up and painted the details. It's almost time for decaling, and I could use some help applying the red decal covering the vertical stabilizer. The thing is that the little horizontal fin is on the way of the decal (and the decal is not supposed to cover the fin). I suppose the best approach would have been to glue the fin after applying the decal, but that's no longer an option. Do you guys have any ideas on how I could do this?

DerMattes
Cut the decal into two parts (maybe not the best approach) or rip out the fins 😉

Thanks for your tip ! I was thinking about cutting the decal , seems to be the least worst method to me

The red squares at the nose of the jet were missing; I got them from an aftermarket decal sheet. I also used a decal from this sheet to represent the aircraft's "window" on the side. I'm now waiting for a spare decal sheet to finish the job.

Hopefully the fixes won't be too difficult.

It does ! The front landing gear was bent , both rear landing gears fell off, as did the trap doors and the exhaust nozzle. I've also also got a paint chip on the tail. In the end the repairs went without much problem.
