Su-47 Berkut/ golden Eagle By Trumpeter in 1:144

Berkut was a proof of concept experimental one-off aircraft by SU design buroet, the gov wouldn't finance the prototype aircraft so SU funded it themselves with help from good overseas sales on the successful SU-27.
The Natzi's first Experimented with the reverse wing design, USA next in the X model then SU in the 1990's

Berkut spent a number of years in a useful test role of new equipment and applications and appeared at domestic airshow's 

The tiny 4 part cockpit, fit together nicely " l got a quality pair of medical needles nose tweezers.. big help. No more jumping out the jaws into carpet ?

From Soviet Mig's, Su use a lighter blue colour, I'm not going to be to pedantic on the scale ?
The seat next
....from what l can see it's a como green-ish . 

Bit of detail on the cockpit, there was no decals due to size, so use a nail-liner brush and so random paints l had.
"As we all know....not much will be seen through a 1:144 canopy" 

Some of the viewable cockpit sides painted, Can fix the 2 sides of airfare together next,
Waiting on delivery of some Gorilla glue Cristal clear for canopy  

Canopy pre-masked and glue on , l use a bit of blue tak as a handle to place n remove once dry. 

Canopy fitted, l put a layer of thick Clear/black mix over the tape as it was prone to lift in few places. I've used this technique many times now ( needs to be thick so it doesn't run under tape.
Clear Gorilla for canopy glue applied with pin. 

Exhaust nozzle's added and rear Stabilisers, lve been using S-glue with fine tip alot lately n Extra thin on certain applications.
I like the strength n filling property of the super glue also no melting effect distortion. 

Wings attached " ?Yes l checked orientation ?"
No need to gap fill wings as they moved .
Drilled out for metal Antenna  

Weapons pylons and bay-doors fitted , most build in super glue.
Main airframe near ready for paint.

If anyone has any suggestions on what black paint effect would be correct?? Flat or satin ect..?? 

Made an antenna out of a sewing pin, l have used the technique on last 3 builds ... As l always catch n break the delicate plastic ones
Put into place with slow settling oily s-glue 

Jet air intake covers added. 

Most the main airframe is built now, just the wheel doors/rear to do next.
I usually pre paint landing gear and weapons and add after fuse- is all painted up. 

Did a bit of pre painting before the engine covers go on, as X2 colours in there. 

The exhaust are very simple on this model.... They are just titanium painted tips/ nozzles
Not like Su-27 with engine's needed to be painted into the fuse-  

A well known n respected car designer said " if you don't like how a car looks paint it black ??"
Black it is ? Frank ? 

From the limited number of wheel bay photos l could find it looked like a silver/ blue colour on the inner bays. 

Winter is drawing in .....so back to the building board, Su-47 getting her coat of black.
Time to train my eyes back to the micro world. 

I will clear coat next before masking for the white, l find masking tape leaves a mess on flat black, l will put a light coat and a final clear after decals and white paint . 

Got the main paint and decals sorted, small parts and weapons next.
Winter has got me back building a little  

 

 

 

It's not a great kit ! I'm used to the challenge of cheap kits but this one has beta pig .....decals very poor.
But as my old work shop teacher would say
" No amount of achievement can make up for an unfinished project" ? so on wards

Trumpeter basic Destruction's very little guidance on paint  

 

Almost finished now my 1:144 Su-47 Trumpeter.
Took the wet winter days to get me back building.... Was Busy fixing up n riding my Vespa over summer.
Got a F4U on the starting blocks now ... been in box long enough ? 

I wouldn't recommend the kit ! needed lots of corrections  

Being as it was only an experimental aircraft....so l took the liberty of using the biggest weapons in the kit for dramatic effect ? 

Hard to see inside cockpit on the 1:144.
Will try in daylight. 

 

My first attempt at a figure for my cabinet, it's supposed to be a Soviet ground crew ( not sure if it's accurate look )
Was an £1.89p AliExpress bargain.
