Cleaning up some seems then the wings will go on, then a primer coat to evaluate the seem work. Nose cone and wheels are only mocked up at this point.  

 

Wings on. Not much filling to do before primer coat 

Primer coat revealed some more filler work to be done.  

Put down some color today. I’m fairly pleased and once the panel lines are blended in, decals and a flat coat I think it will be ok. Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of Vallejo paint. Even the pre-mixed Air Colors require thinner and they take a good 12 hours to cure properly. For me it’s Tamiya paint going forward and I’ll mix my own color variations.  

 

 

 

 

Gloss coat is on awaiting decals, pin wash, and a flat coat.  

Decaling is finished. For decals that are over 30 years old I had no issues or problems. Next up a panel line pin wash then a flat coat followed by the small detail parts and canopy.

Is the nose cone 100% accurate? Probably not, but I like the look.  

A few touchups and better pictures and it’s finished  

 

 

 

I’m calling this one finished. I’m very pleased overall with the 30+ year old kit, the build and the painting. My airbrush skills are getting better.
Does it have a few flaws, absolutely, but I have NEVER built a model that is flawless. Sometimes the lighting in the pictures emphasize things a bit much but when looking at this piece with the naked eye under normal conditions it’s fine for me.
