1963 Chevy Ⅱ Nova Station Wagon (amt 1:25)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The interior is done. There are only four parts shown in this picture. I focused on painting the key points. I mainly used aqueous paint. Oil paints were used for the wood grain on the steering wheel. 

 

The body is painted. The color is Tamiya TS-11 Maroon. I decided to leave it as is with the spray can finish.
There is a slight unevenness on the front left edge of the body, so I filled it in with a super glue. The front edge of the hood is slightly chipped on the right side, so I filled it in and made a straight line. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I finished painting the silver parts of the body, such as the plated moldings. I masked each surface and sprayed Mr. Hobby’s Aqueous Super Fine Silver on each surface. Even if the paint spills over, it can be wiped off with Magiclean (a Japanese kitchen detergent) because it is acrylic paint. The interior ceiling was painted in a sail color. 

 

The Nova’s body is finished, and all that's left is the final touches.
I used decals in parts of the emblem, and brushed on the word “Nova”. I protected the decals with a brush coat of Tamiya enamel clear.
During this work, some "mysterious dirt" - grease, masking tape glue, decal glue, and other grime - got on the body, which even detergent wouldn't remove. Some of it can be removed with enamel thinner, but Tamiya can spray paint (used for Maroon) dissolve slightly in this kind of thinner, so they're not very useful.
However, polishing with Hasegawa ceramic compound removed it all nicely.
I added a glossy finish with Tamiya Modeling Wax. This wax makes it much more resistant to fingerprints and dirt.
And then, a curled copper wire cord is added to the telephone. 

 

 

 

I finished the squirrel and telephone that came with the kit. From the scale, I realized that this squirrel is not a chipmunk, but an eastern gray squirrel. I also made a McDonald's paper bag out of epoxy putty and placed it on the passenger seat. In addition to the squirrel, I placed some fallen leaves from parts I had on hand on the roof. 

 

 

The right front tire was detached from the ground, so I adjusted it with a lead weight. In addition, there is another reason why the tire is detached : the dowels that attach the front of the body to the chassis are snap-fit, and adjusting the fit here can improve tire contact with the ground.
