A really interesting project of an incident I'd never heard of before with two fantastic looking builds. Really top work Nathan 👍

Woohoo, when the Scorpion got done I thought the Hellcat will be little more than a back-row extra, but boy, did that greasy old witch turned out great. Like an old sea dog in a tarnished coat vs a fresh ensign just out of Annapolis in his Diner dress uniform... who´s got the better story to tell... 😄
Great topic and excellent execution, was a pleasure to follow 👍

Thank you so much James & Slavo! I'm very humbled by your kind comments. Side note: My wife is asking why I'm strutting around the house with my chest pushed out ?
This was a thoroughly enjoyable dual build. Actually the most fun I've had in a while. I hope everyone else enjoys it as well.

An orange plane in the sky would be pretty easy to spot. I guess they had no intention of sneaking up on anyone. Nice build. 🙂

Many thanks Bill, Thomas & Neuling 🙂
I also wanted to thank everyone who liked the album as well.

Wonderful, two perfectly made models, the colors are a work of art better than Van Goch 👍

Great job Nathan 👍 The orange makes the Hellcat actually quiet an appealing plane 😉

The super weathered Hellcat is a dream. Congratulations Nathan!

Nathan, Very impressive work! I hope that you get an award for these builds as they have turned out just beautiful! Lots of customizing. Congratulations! K/r, Dutch

Thank you Dutch! ?
If we could get a nearby show around here, I'd be happy to bring them out.

Thank you very much Patryk!
Bossy: Yes I'd need to find a pilot with a "disappointed" look and create one large crater.

Incredible! Thanks for bringing that story to life with such perfect models!

Thanks Alec and Rich!
I'm honestly overwhelmed by the response to these builds. I had a great time researching and building them. I'm very happy all of you have enjoyed them too.

Happy to report that the F6F-5K won gold at the recent PAMSCON 22 in the category Aircraft UAV.

Both planes look stunning, Nathan. 👍
I got very fond memories of building that Scorpion together with my grandpa when I was a kid. I think it was him who got me started with scale models back then.
Thanks for making me remember 🙂

Thanks Roland, Alec, Clifford, Dutch, Robin & Michael! This was my most fulfilling project I've yet done. I think Robin said it best as that old F-89 kit brought back many good memories. I finally got the F-89C kit as well and am looking forward to building it soon.

Great job!I am also working on an F6F-5K of the same theme, and your work has been a great reference for me.

Wow, Amazing job on both kits but especially the old Revell Scorpion kit. Wish someone would make a up to date kit of this significant late 40s design, I'm sure it would sell extremely well.

Thanks MID, Mark & Ray! I'm glad you enjoyed this project.
Ray: You're right a new tool would be awesome! Note that Caracal decals has now released as set that includes an aircraft from this unit so you won't have to scrape together decals and paint on the markings. Reason enough for me to build another one if a new tool kit did appear.

I agree, I would love a new tool F-89. The old one must still be popular though. I have been trying to get the F-89C anniversary release, but it has been out of stock forever.

Clifford: If you're unable to find that F-89C and need one really badly just let me know. I've got one with your name on it.
