Thanks! @Roy McKay, I use pastels. I just scrape some off from a pastel "crayon", sometimes in different colours, mix it with water a little bit of diswashing liquid, and apply it with a brush over the model. You can use wet q-tips, some cloth or paper towel, or just your fingers to clean it off to the result you desire.
