Well I hope you won't be too disappointed, as I won't be going with the box art paint scheme. But yes, it is a beautiful scheme.

I made this kit when it came onto the market. The white has a yellow sheen now, so much for the varnish I used 🙁 but I keep it as a valuable part of my modelling history 🙂

A kit I have on my bench on and off. I made this kit when it hit the market and now revisited. But this kit does NOT replicate a YF-16 but a FSD F-16A. So regardless what kit decal option you pick, it is not correct. There are a LOT of things that needs to be changed for it to represent a YF-16, to name a few: shorter wingspan of both wings and elevons, reprofiling of the nose, redefining the prominent strakes below the cockpit, shorter fuselage, repositioning of the scoops near the MLG bay as well as repositioning of the gun port. By the time you finished all that, you basically need to rescribe the whole kit as well. So it will be on and off on my bench for a while. And the chances are when I finally complete this kit, there will be a kit released with all the above corrections...

@Francky, yeah, I have a few of those old builds myself. I'd love to find the white box of the original Monogram kit that I built when it was a new release way back when…
@tyu, yes I realized all the differences in the profile as soon as I was researching this kit and started building it. I won't be doing any such mods/corrections as it is going to be a pure OOB project. I hope to have it wrapped up within a few weeks and not in the months/years I would need to do all those changes. It's too bad that Tamiya didnt capture the lines of the prototype.

Thanks DM! The paints have been fighting me, due to both being older bottles in my paint drawers, but overall I'm happy with how it's coming along. It sure won't be contest quality though… just good enough to sit alongside the rest of my 1/48 jets on the display shelf.

Please take a picture of your camo out in the direct sunlight... I think it will shine like the real thing! Cheers!!!
