I've always had a soft spot for Wellingtons and when I found this one on sale at Wonderland Models while on trip to Edinburgh it found its way into the collection. I doubt I'll use all the extras but pick and choose as I go. I'll try my own markings as I want to represent the aircraft (AA-R) in which Pilot Sergeant James Allan Ward VC won his VC by wing walking at 13,000 feet to put out a wing fire.

Well after realising there is going to no5hing visible of the inside I've decided not to use the figures. May use them for some o5her project but I doubt any other would offer greater visibility but may use the standing figure for scale perception.

The one thing I like about this kit are the wings the connection looks and was pretty strong when tested so it means you can paint with easy access, well here's hoping

Cheers #Lost_Erik
Not sure it fully worked if I was to do it again with the strips of tape I think I'd spray at an angle so only part of the sunken squares where in shadow that might be more effective

Thought I'd add a note about the KV Models masks (72628). This a first time I've used this companies stuff and the masks are great. They are superbly sized fitting the transparencies perfectly.
A couple of points I'd make;
There is no placement guide and while most are self explanatory they do contain masks for the two types of main canopy in the kit and is a little tricky to identify the right one to use.
The second point is you can't leave them on for too long and they are very sticky. Now I model when I can so I tend to have my masks on for some time and that meant they were a little tricky to remove, in-fact I pulled the fuselage windows off the kit, they also left some of their sticky stuff behind. The clean up was easy though and I was able to remove the sticky bit with odourless thinners.
So while I recommend these masks and will use KV Model mask again I'd say they are not for those fairly new to the hobby.

Having just picked up this kit yesterday. Then coming across your build has given me great ideas on how to get details out of the wings and the fuselage.. great looking build. Love to see the final result of your build.

Many thanks #Skthiker, #David Taylor & #Dave
I was pleased I was able to get the turrets on after everything painted as I know I'd knock them off while painting. The ridge around the bottom of the turrets was a great guide for the saw to cut the bottom off the turret floor. With the bottom secured in the airframe I sanded it down flush to ensure no fouling of the glass section. Once the glass was fixed to the top of the cut off floor I thinned that down too to as thin as I dared. All of which enabled the turrets to just slide in.

Got to praise this kits approach to the wings. I've not come across this method before and I have to report it worked a dream. Leaving them off allow easy access to the demarcation line and now unwanted spray build up in the wing roots. The actual wing root join was spot on too.
I wish all larger aircraft kits used this method and even small planes in the larger scales could benefit too

Thanks all.
I'm calling this finished. I have no idea how accurate this it's is as I just enjoy build kits and don't overly worry about each rivet and mm but I think this was a great kit. I had no issues with fit and the detail inside is good oob even though you can't see any of it. The best thing were the wing attachments I loved the positive fit and lack of gaps which ment you can leave off till the end - great idea.
Well onto the next one!

Very inspiring build 👍 Not sure the geodetic effect is overdone or not, but I like it 👍
