I've just bought some double sided tape to do something similar but looking at your jig , I could've used normal tape upside down but taped into place in a couple of places. Is that what you did there Robert?

I use Tamiya masking tape, it doesn't leave for sure any adhesive residue on the plastic surface, and yes, the small tape pieces are just for fixing of the large piece. Also the plastic angles on the cutting mat are fixed with CA glue

When I've used tape before the tracks kept breaking when I peel it off. What's your secret?

@Ben, maybe it is the glue, I use slow drying Revell Profesional Contacta. After glueing the links together, I keep the track for about 15-20 minutes on the tape before I remove it. All holds together well and the track is still flexible to shape it around the wheels

I have so many different glues now but, when it comes to individual track links I hear many people recommend Revell contacta professional. I need to find somewhere that delivers for free though. Otherwise the postage will almost be as much as the item! 🙂

Though I'll probably need quite a big (or several) bottle. I do have a LOT of tracks to build. Some kits have track that just clips together (my latest kit a Meng Mk A Whippet WW1 tank) but I think I'll sparingly use some contacta on tracks like that too.
