I can't help feeling something is wrong with the suspension. The idler wheel looks far too close to the ground, but I can't put my finger on why that is.

The suspension (and tracks) are still fully articulable, so the front large roadwheel is not fixed in its lowest position, which makes the idler appear lower than it is.

Aha, yes, that would do it. The model is in a nose-down attitude, which throws off how it looks.
