Dmitriy AuthorJohn, I haven't gotten my hands on Tamiya's P-47, but I've done other Tamiya aircraft in 1:48 scale and I would say that their engineering is still unbeaten. The detail on the MiniArt kits is I think the pinnacle of what is possible with injection molding, but in some aspects the kit is over engineered and unnecessarily complex.

What I have found out is that the molds for plastics are often just eroded but not polished. This seems to be the case here. You have polished the surface once already coated, but perhaps should have started already on bare plastics with a 1000 grit, then would not need the polishing compounds as I think they are messy to clean from all the panel lines and rivets.
Also I was not impressed in the past with Alclad. My go-to is MrColor GX-1 for gloss black and then MrColor Super Metallics, they are resistant to weathering, tapes, the works. I also fine sand (Tamiya 3000 sponge) and then degrease each step between paints with MrPaint degreaser, it does not damage paint (except enamels, so not for AK Extreme Metals). I only stop sanding after I lay down a coat of gloss GX-100 prior to decals and oils.
So that works for me, maybe some tips for you to try 👍
