I randomly opened this kit's box while selecting my Ukraine F-16 build. I have no idea why this kit was halted but can hopefully salvage the build.

Some progress today. I sanded off all the filler on the intake and attached it to the fuselage. Also cleaned up around the cockpit area. I decided to keep the old pilot installation instead of replacing with a resin seat.

I hope the build salvage goes well. What you did in the past looks good.

Nathan, You're becoming more like me. 😉 Opening a box, seeing a half-built kit and not remembering: 1) that you had it in the first place, 2) what you intended with it, 3) but are willing to go in a completely different direction with it now. I do like the fact that you have a 3"x5" card with notes of your intentions in the box. I should start doing that. Pulling up a seat to watch the progress. Kind regards, Dutch

Thanks Jennifer & Welcome Dutch
Yes it is a problem. At least I left myself a note as seen in pic one. I feel bad for the poor guys that get my kits after I've passed on lol! Like this one it could be half built. Another thing I do is scavenge weapons from other kits. I think everything for this one came from my Kinetic F-16D.

My goodness a real rabbit hole I've fallen into researching the underwing & wingtip launch rails. I think I've found the correct LAU-129 type in my Kinetic F-16D kit.

One photo added of the weapons/drop tanks that I had completed right before vacation.

I'm actually building 3 🤣 but one of them is a ghost build. I'm very interested in your F build!

Some build progress here: Added the FAB Scale wingtip rails since I ran out of the rails previously scavenged from my Kinetic kit. Also the main tail section has been glued in place.

Thanks Desert Marlin! Going slowly, but I'll get there eventually.

Made some time for painting the exhaust. Also work on the load out which turned out to be more work than I anticipated.

Missed this one while watching your UAF F-16.
Interesing backstory - will watch with interest what you make of it now. Exhaust looks nice already!

Thanks Desert, Jennifer & Alexander! Welcome to the build Alexander.
I have now applied masking to the exhaust and attached the subassembly to the fuselage.

Completed work on all of the under-wing stores. Funny story: I used the drop tanks from my Kinetic kit and then ended up having to buy ResKit tanks anyways because I decided to build that kit too. The ResKit ones will find good use on the F-16DG.

Hard to ignore the fantastic workmanship of the ResKit stores! Looks fabulous! I like the AIM-120B's you picked out!
6 March, 23:53
I'm waiting for a set of ResKit Python missiles for my F-16C Barak (1/32).
6 March, 23:54
Every item from ResKit that I have purchased has been excellent and a great addition to my builds. I am especially fond of their wheel sets.

Welcome Guillaume! Today I completed the Eduard AN/AAQ-28 Litening pod. The tiny decals on this pod are excellent and I added the Flying Leathernecks lenses which also fit great and have a realistic look.

I'm fairly pleased with the seam removal on the canopy. Once attached the painting can begin!
6 September, 13:45
Nathan, what did you use to polish the seam away? Buffing sticks/pads, or a compound and cloth?
6 September, 15:03
I used the Micromesh sanding cloth set from 3,600 to 12,000 grit then I dipped it in Pledge Floor Gloss. I have another set of sanding pads that are the same grit and have worked well but I tend to use the Micromesh on highly curved surfaces.

Having a productive day. The canopy was attached and masked along with fairly minimal preshading. My last build showed little to no effect of preshading underneath the FS36118 Gunship Gray.

My last bottles of FS36270 and FS36375 were rubberized, so now the project halts momentarily. I'll be outside staring at my mailbox awaiting my new bottles…
1 12 September, 17:59
Last night I applied the H306 FS36270. I'm very pleased with this paint.
1 18 September, 14:20
Last night I painted the FS36118 using the last of my old Polly Scale paint in this color. The paint was 25 years old at application and still performed flawlessly. I salute this long gone line of paint!

Work continues. Had some issues with several of the decals which caused some rework. I also dropped it and broke off the landing gear that I had just installed… This shelf-of-doom kit is fighting me the whole way, but it will be finished soon! I have added a shot of the rebuilt gear.
28 September, 21:58
OK this shelf of doom redemption project is complete! Thanks for watching everyone 🙂
1 8 October, 21:01
Nathan, Another beautiful work of art across the finish line! Congratulations! Well done!
9 October, 01:57
Thanks Desert & Dutch! It was nice to finally get this one in the case along with his other Viper buddies 🙂

Great F-16!! Flying Makos…I had a one night stay in Homestead/FL once. I remember a huge wall painting with F-16 at the local Applebees (or was it Denny's)?
1 9 October, 14:06
Fabulous work Nathan! You're proof positive that even shelf of doom projects can come out spectacularly!

Thank you very much Mid Franconian & CaptGPF! I think the Florida folks love their planes. The local Publix Supermarket assembled an entire Piper Cub inside the store for the Sun'n Fun air show one year. 😂
