Comments
These decals were named DRY-WATER (with the prefix DW in the product description) because after being soaked in water, they behave like traditional water decals: we apply them to the surface, after the appropriate SET-SOL treatment, we wait for them to dry completely on the model, then we varnish them after drying and that's it.
However, there is also a special feature:
HADmodels DRY-WATER decals will also have a big advantage for professional modelers:
It is possible to remove the top layer of varnish after application, waiting for the complete drying time (minimum 24 hours). This way we can create an effect as if it were painted.
Methods for this:
Option 1: on dry. Carefully scrape the edge with a pair of tweezers and then remove the edge by holding it. This is time-consuming and in most cases only comes off in pieces, but it works. This method can be done with Tamiya masking tape, or using Blu-Tack mounting clay. Carefully place it on the decal and pick up the masking tape or Blu-Tack clay with gentle movements.
2nd Option (the recommended): Using AK White Spirit. Wet a piece of paper tissue with AK White Spirit, then place it on the decal and wait about. 5 minutes. Then, with an cotton swab, carefully rub it from the edges inwards. This is the safer method and thus the varnish layer can be removed at the same time, it doesn't tear apart.
