Personal Interest: The Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) flyoff between the YF-22 and YF-23 began at Edwards AFB in 1990, and took place during my early USAF career. I was fascinated by the thust vectoring, supercruise, and stealth capabilities of the YF-22. The operational F-22 did not enter service until my USAF career had ended.
