1/48 HKM heavy bomber. Flown by Dambuster pilot Guy Gibson VC during his time with No.106 Squadron RAF. In February 1943, Admiral Prune was one of the Lancasters that participated in a bombing mission by night over the Italian city of Turin. Sadly, 4118's two left Rolls-Royce Merlin engines caught fire while in flight on the outbound journey. As a result of the dual engine fire, Prune crashed in a village near the French city of Dijon. Although a Lancaster bomber is flown by a crew of seven, Prune carried a crew of eight on board at the time of the raid. Four of the crew perished when the plane crashed, while the other half became Prisoners of War at a German-held PoW camp in Occupied France. The original Admiral Prune was then replaced by another Lancaster, which was nicknamed Admiral Prune II and was also flown by Guy Gibson.
