Hellenic Army used Universal ("Bren") Carriers a) in 1941, during the Greco-Italian War and the ensuing German invasion (see 19th Mot. Div. vehicle (LM Decals LM 72005, 1:72) ), b) during its "exile" years, in North Africa and Italy, and c) during the Greek Civil War (1946-'49). ALL these Carriers (at least every Greek Carrier I've seen photos of) were of the Mk. I variant. [BTW, the same goes for all the British Carriers used in Greece, in 1941 and again in 1944, during Liberation and the "Dekemvriana" battles - again: Mk. Is.] This means, a small-scale modeller has to tackle the 1:72 IBG Carrier, with the dreaded piece-by-piece tracks - not for me!
The ancient, simple Airfix 1:76 kit, on the other hand, more appropriate to my modest modelling skills, provides a Carrier Mk. II... The solution came thanks to a (historically not accurate - rather an "hommage") Carrier Mk. II restored by SDIO (the Greek Historical Vehicles Restoration Association), the one shown in the "cover" photo, which thus gives the opportunity to build the Airfix kit - albeit with concessions as to historic accuracy (but then, again, restored vehicles or aircraft, museum pieces, gate guards etc... are also legitimate modelling subjects, no?!).

BTW, this is my second model modelled after a restored SDIO vehicle - following my RHAF 336 Squadron Willis Jeep - B01.02 RHAF 336 (Hellenic) Sqn Willys Jeep | Project by Grelicks (1:72).
Someday I may also add a Daimler Dingo (again: historically inaccurate! - in lieu of a Ford Lynx...) also restored by SDIO...
