Ben M AuteurThis kit is pretty bizarre. We intend to paint half the cow as a Frisian Holstein and leave the other half transparent. But the transparent parts are bizarrely shaped shards that need to be glued together. At first we thought the kit had been broken in shipping, but that is actually how the parts are shaped. And of course they will require a lot of cutting and filing to fit together, the fit isn't very precise.

AnthI had similar experience r with customer service. They were excellent and replaced parts etc quickly. The kits are a challenging an as you say moonless. Maybe ok for complex kits an tracks but the leopard in 1/3 nearly broke me.

Ben M AuteurMy dremel's battery stopped working 🪫and the battery packs are no longer sold so I rebuilt it 🔋 I have had this dremel forever, it's not my main dremel which is corded but it's nice to take to the hobby shop build nights. I've had it for many years, every few years I'd buy a new battery pack for it when it would stop holding a charge but I can no longer find them anywhere so I rebuilt it.

Ben M AuteurI leave this note for anyone building one of these in the future, I recently read an old article by one of the people at Fokker who worked on this aircraft who said despite all the color profiles showing it as green, the D.XXI sent to the Netherlands East Indies was actually brown. Ref: Air Enthusiast December 1971.

Ben MI’d rate this a medium difficulty to assemble. The drawings aren’t always clear, and you want to make sure the articulations go the right way. Some parts are tiny. I definitely recommend gluing the non articulated parts. Other than paint can be assembled in a couple of evenings.

KetoujinThank you for some great memories yourself! I live out in the Columbia Gorge now but back when I lived in town - and before the influx of transplants as well - I used to hear very similar memories from older PDX'er's who had lots of memories such as the one you described. It was a unique gas station (and later local family restaurant) and I hope someone buys the site and runs with an aviation-themed eating place there again. Not holding my breath given how things are changing - especially in this region - right now but am crossing my fingers. Even a "bomber-themed" place somewhere else in the wider area in vague homage to the old one would be nice.

Ben MThis is a nice kit. The shrimp comes pre-finished and looks highly realistic. Most of your time will be spent removing grains of rice from sprues and then placing them one by one to create the rice ball. If you are the kind of masochist that enjoys building tracks made of individual links on armor models, then this will kit likely appeal to you, especially if you also are in need of a shrimp. The result will make you hungry. Recommended.
