P-51D Fool's Paradise IV
Commentaires
For me, it's seems a typical SR-models build. It's a pleasure to explore all the details and to enjoy the pictures. The Marauder matches perfect!

When I saw the simultaneous release of Eduard's brand-new P-51D kit along with the resin upgrade set that allows the engine to be displayed in full detail with the cowlings open, I was immediately hyped ! It also felt like the perfect opportunity to find a worthy companion for my B-26B Marauder.
The aircraft I chose is the P-51D-5NA "Fool's Paradise IV" flown by Major Evan McCall, which I wanted to depict as it would have appeared in June 1944, with the invasion stripes visible on both the upper and lower surfaces.
Although I don't have much experience working with this kind of upgrade, the engine installation on the fuselage is very well thought out and turned out to be quite straightforward. The only drawback was the visible 3D printing striations, especially on the engine cowlings, which had to be sanded down. Handling the finest resin parts was also a bit tricky, as the material is quite brittle.
The kit itself is a real pleasure to build, well-engineered, well-detailed, and enjoyable even without aftermarket parts.
The full step-by-step build will be featured in Wingmasters Magazine in the coming months.
Cheers,
Romain
