To drill into aluminium with very small drills is not easy.

Thanks and welcome Bruce!
With the finished build of the Ford Model A I will try to continue and finish this build. I prepared already some subassemblies over the time but it is far from done.
I will try to merge here a SE.5a from Eduard with a Roden kit. The original was a single-seat version of the B.E.2. The "b" variant here was equipped with the nose and engine taken from the SE.5a.

A warm welcome to all of you!
Yes Ludvík, an interesting piece of history, but not very successful. The performance of this night fighter was impressive due to the great 8-cylinder engine, but those were needed for the SE.5a and other types on the front. So not many machines were produced or converted for Home Defence units, some waited forever for the engine. The 200 hp Hispano-Suiza was critical scarce at that time.
Today exists a flying reproduction BE12 with a RAF 4a 160hp V12 engine.

@Michael A fun oob build helped. While the last parts were drying (I was told not to touch the Molotow chrome for a week), I dug out this build and started working on the engine.

Welcome J35J!
I uploaded pictures of the instrument panel. Here is a photo (copyright James Fahey) showing the lamps I mention in the description of picture 13:

I can and should adjust my lamps 🙂

Welcome Marcel!
Unbelievable, where does the time go? This model sat in the shelf for a year and a half. After finishing all the jets, I'll continue working on this propeller plane a little. But will I be able to finish it this time? I don't know.
A complicated mount for the Lewis MGs are soldered.

What glue do you use for veneer layers of the airscrew?

Wood glue. I use the Express one to not have to wait a day.

Thank you mates and a warm welcome to this already loooong running build!
@Skyhiker you are right about Roden. In this case it is a modified kit of the BE2 with new parts (not linked in DB because of the new topic). The plastic is of a soft kind, but the kit provides many filigree detailed parts. I think some are wrong, but the information about such old planes are very rare and often confusing so the kit manufacturer needs to made assumptions. In this case I trust more the newly build flying exemplar in New Zealand, even it is another variant.
There were three variants, called BE12, BE12a, and BE12b. Based mainly on the BE2c, the BE12a had the wings and tail of the BE2e.
The BE12b (this project) had the propulsion system of the SE5a, which is why only a few were built, as the engines were needed for the SE5a.

It's very interesting to see how carefully you make new parts for this model. It will definitely be another gem in your collection. 🙂

Thanks for your kind comment Ludvík! But all the hard scratch work was may be the reason why I lost the mood to continue it for a while.
I just added more pictures with hopefully more interesting parts. Some were already created, at least partly, last year.

Thx Zbynek, but please don't forget to breathe! 😉
The problem is often more about knowing _what_ to build; the _how_ can be solved somehow. And with good references, it's clear _what_ 👍

Thank you Kyle!
However, when the wire that is supposed to serve as a bolt during installation flings away the freshly made, drilled and painted part, I can get really angry! 😠
It seems that as you get older, you become more thin-skinned. 😭
Despite searching for a long time, I couldn't find it and had to make a new one.
