The Spitfire PR.A was the first Spitfire Mk.I modified to have cameras (two Spitfires were modified). The cameras were F.24 with 5" lenses. As much as possible weight was removed from the aircraft (armament, RT equipment, pilot armor). Two camera were installed in the now empty gun bays, the cameras pointing down. The aircraft were smoothed own. Panel lines filled and a coat of bee's wax, all to enhance speed and thus increasing the chance of escape from enemy fighters. Color is generally quoted to be Eau de Nil (water of the Nile) and I used White Ensign BS16. The canopy and serial numbers (Model Alliance) are the only aftermarket additions. The camera in the starboard armament compartment was scratch-built.
